Responsible & Sustainable Meetings in Orlando
Everyone wants to be “green.” It makes business sense, plus it’s the right thing to do. That’s why we offer many sustainable options for meeting in Orlando — venues, accommodations, dining and entertainment. And it’s also why our corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs are among the most innovative and engaging.

Getting Attendees Involved with CSR
Visit Orlando has a long history of advocating for social responsibility. We fundamentally believe in it as an organization, and are actively involved with a number of charitable and volunteer groups. Which is why we have proudly partnered with BETA Center, Camp Boggy Creek and Edgewood Children’s Ranch, though there are many other area organizations to choose from.

Giving Back in Orlando
“When it was time to add CSR elements to the McDonald’s Worldwide Convention in Orlando, I knew the local community would embrace us. Whether it was working with the Orange County Convention Center on donation programs or partnering with Clean the World, the destination took these initiatives seriously and provided a positive experience for all.”
—Julie Larson, Project Manager for Meetings & Events, McDonald’s Corporation
Aspiring to Be Green
Through collaboration with the local chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council, area hotels and attractions, Visit Orlando has been integral in establishing Green Destination Orlando. The pilot program will set sustainability standards for destinations throughout the world, guiding them down the path towards Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification.
Eco-Friendly Expansion
During The Peabody Orlando’s recent two-year, $450 million expansion, a number of new green initiatives were implemented. New eco-friendly practices at the property include the installation of a building-wide energy management system that adjusts lighting and temperature in rooms according to occupancy, low-flow water fixtures and toilets, and energy-efficient light fixtures and bulbs.
Solar-Powered Meetings
The Orange County Convention Center was the first facility of its kind to be ISO 14001:2004-certified for its recycling program. However, the center’s greatest innovation recycles one of Orlando’s most prized assets — the sun. The center recently developed a one-megawatt rooftop photovoltaic system that generates power by collecting solar energy. All told, the system provides 12 percent of the venue’s annual electrical needs.
